Rhinitis in the literal sense means inflammation of the nose. It can be broken down into allergic, non-allergic or mixed.  Further this can characterized as seasonal or perennial (year long).

Allergic rhinitis includes the common environmental and food allergens. This can be quickly tested through an Allergist & Immunologist. Non allergic irritants includes changes in barometric pressure, weather changes, exposure to cold, hormonal changes, exercise, scents, perfumes, and smoke.  Mixed rhinitis is a combination of the above.

Rhinitis Treatment

Conservative and medical therapy includes nasal saline rinses, intranasal corticosteroids/antihistamines among others. If medical therapy does not help your symptoms, you may be a candidate for a minimally invasive turbinate procedure.
